Art of C.J. Ross (aka Winter Nightfire)

Saturday, September 5, 2009

Winter Nightfire aka C.J Ross is a self-taught painter from San Francisco, California. Her exposure to Abstract Expressionism began at age 16 in the North Beach neighborhood at Caffe Trieste, where she befriended her mentors, the noted Beat artists Jack Hirschman and George Long.

She displayed her first painting at a group show with her mentors in 2001 at age 24, and has been showing solo at venues across San Francisco ever since.

Winter recently teamed up with Filthy Fluno (Jeffrey Lipski) at the Second Life Community Convention (SLCC) in San Francisco for Artathon. These two amazing, fun and provocative artists took SLCC by storm...armed with paints, pastels and assorted canvases to capture the essence of the convention...in art! Sponsored by Avalon Art District and CounterpART Gallery, the pair created a wide-range of abstract art inspired by the event. The works were auctioned off at the end of the convention; raising $1,000 US for the non-profit organization Virtual Ability!
